Speakers:

Corey Schoon is a transformative educator, Marine Corps veteran, and champion of workforce development, rooted in the heart of Northeast Indiana. As the former Director of Career and Technical Education at Garrett Keyser Butler Community Schools, Corey redefined opportunity for students and communities. He has built innovative career pathways that lifted countless individuals out of poverty, securing millions of dollars in funding and driving a 300% increase in program enrollment. He partnered with local industry to construct homes, parking lots, and even a tribute to the 1924 Duesenberg race car—blending hands-on learning with Rust Belt pride. Corey also created a pioneering CTE recruitment pipeline from elementary to high school, including a multi-industry, hands-on course for grades 6-8, where 8th graders earn an OSHA 10 certification—setting them on a path to success early. His leadership continues to set a national standard for career and technical education, as demonstrated by his recent NAHB Student Chapter of the Year award, recognizing his program as the top construction program in the United States. During his Iraq deployment, Corey received the Naval and Marine Corps Achievement Medal for his service as a Sergeant in the U.S. Marine Corps. He brings a disciplined, creative approach to education, forging connections between the region’s storied past and its promising future. Join us to hear how he’s shaping the next generation of builders, thinkers, and leaders in America’s industrial heartland.
